 Dental Prophylaxis

Scaling is defined as a procedure to remove soft deposits(plaque), hard deposits(calculus) and stains from teeth. Removal of subgingival plaque and calculus help removal of micro-organism along with them. Calculus removal from each pocket is done to obtain a good healing response. This procedure cures bleeding gums, bad breath and prevents tooth loss.

Polishing of teeth: Dental polishing is done after completion of scaling. The purpose of polishing teeth surface is to make surfaces smooth which makes it more difficult for paque and debris to accumulate on your teeth. Polishing is done using polishing paste and prophy cup which removes stains and make tooth surface smooth. It is good to do polishing of teeth after every scaling.
